Sakurajima (Sakurajima) is an active volcano with about 12 km east-west, about 10 km north to south, about 55 km around, in the Kagoshima bay (Kanie Bay) in Kagoshima prefecture in southern Kyushu, Japan, about 77 km² in area.
Once it was an island, due to the eruption of 1914 (Taisho 3 years), it became a landfall with the Osumi Peninsula on the other side of Kagoshima city.
Volcanic eruption prediction liaison association has been selected as a volcano that needs to improve monitoring and observation system for volcanic disaster prevention.
